5th & 6th month immunisation

Date of appointment : 23rd September 2006.

Ellie's 5th and 6th month immunisation jabs were combined together as we decided to let her take the 6-in-1 jab. So that she doesn't need to experience the pain of the needle one more time.

Since she's taking the 6-in-1, her appointment was 6 weeks from her previous 4th month jab.

It's more straightforward this time. Just the 6-in-1 and nothing else. Ellie's growth is progressing nicely, except for quite frequent eye deposits. Dr. Winston diagnosed it as a minor case of eye infection and prescribed her a bottle of anti-biotic eyedrops.

The cost of the 6-in-1 is approx. $154.

But its tedious trying to get that single drop into each of her eyes. Lina would try to aim the bottle's spout and I'd try to get Ellie's attention by waving anything that makes a racket in front of her. Once that droplet gets into her eyes, she'd kick up a fuss and we'd calm her down but too bad she had to take drop in her the other eye. Poor thing! Getting eye drops as such a tender age...

Subsequently, she'd wise up to our tactics. Once she sees Lina with that little white bottle in her hand and me waving something in front of her, she'd automatically push Lina's hand away with her little hand. But being parents, we had to do what we had to do. It pains us to see we are the source of her discomfort but there's no other way due to the infection.

The next compulsory jab is when she turns 15 month old. But there are some extra precautionary immunisations which we could let her take. I'll let Lina decide on that matter.
